The Haitian music scene needs structure, a place to call its own. An entity or people that can promote it to the rest of the world, so that up and coming artists and bands can showcase their product to the Haitian music fans.

HMILive provides that service free of charge; anyone can create a page and start promoting their music. I know a lot of skeptics are going to ask what the catch is. The people behind HMILive believe that if they offer a place for new artist and band to promote their music without going to promoters and producers in return, we the fans of Haitian music we will get a better products. We the fans can help struggling artists and bands.

We have a lot of good Haitian Music going bad because producers and promoters are afraid to take a chance on an artist with no name recognition. In other word, if you are not an established artist or band it’s very hard for you to promote your music to the mass.

Now, you can just go to HMILive.com and upload your Haitian music in mp3 format to hmilive.com. You can also email your mp3 to hmilive@gmail.com

For more info you can go to HMILive.com to check them out. Let’s promote our music to the rest of the world.

Disip, the richly talented Haitian Kompa Band have released their first CD titled Mission and Wow! It’s really a good one.

This CD grabs your attention right from the outset with Mission and won’t let go until the very last note of the very last song BONDIEM LA GRAN, which by the way is another great track.

Mission is a pleasantly varied, mix of 13 tracks that are very well written and brilliantly performed songs by these clearly talented musicians. Most of the songs display a lot of the kind emotion that makes for a really great listen. Clearly drawing from what I can only imagine are their own real life experiences. At different points touching on the most real emotions of love, and the pain of failed relationships can certainly be heard.

One of the refreshingly nice things about this CD is the way all of the participating artists seem to be really enjoying themselves. Combine that with the overall presentation and you’ve got one of Disip most impressive releases yet.

If you’re a Disip fan this is a CD your collection rack cannot be without. In fact, this is one of those CDs that you don’t even have to be a fan of Gazzman Couleur, or even Kompa direct to know is good. It’s just good music. Period.

While the entire Disip’s CD is really very good the truly standout tunes are track 2 – BOPE PA PAPA, track 3 – KOLONN, and track 11 – KWE MWEN.

The album has 13 tracks in total, which are as follows:

1-MISSION
2-BOPE PA PAPA
3-KOLONN
4-KOUPAB
5-PA SANS TOI
6-BANM GAZZ
7-MY ANGEL
8-HOLD ON TO UR DREAM
9-ADIEU
10-OUVE BARYE
11-KWE MWEN
12-JOU PAM
13-BONDIEM LA GRAN

Disip’s Mission might be the best Kompa direct album to come out from a long time.

I met Wyclef on several occasions. The first one was a while back. I was still living in London and it was when the Fugees first came out. I met him at the MTV Awards. We did “We Are the World Together,” and there were a couple of other things where I’d see him around here and there. I just saw him in Miami not too long ago. I know a little bit of who he is but I don’t know the man, really. At the same time I will say he’s been promoting Haiti since the get go.

Ever since The Fugees came out, he was one of the first ones to actually take the flag and put it out there. So he did great things as an artist for Haiti. As far as governing the country, that’s a different ball game. Does he have what it takes to take care of Haiti? I don’t know. I didn’t have a chance to thoroughly go through most of the projects that he had to do with Haiti.

It’s difficult to speak about Wyclef’s situation because we know that he’s not going to be able to run. From what I understand [residency] is not officially the reason why he was denied. There was no official reason said, so far all of those are just speculations. But at the same time I have to say his involvement brought a lot of light on the situation because now everybody knows there’s an election going on, November 28. So now everybody has to try our best to have a good election, to select a good president and work toward rebuilding Haiti.

I would just have to take some time to study each of the candidates to know who they are, what they’ve been doing for the past 10 to 20 years and look at the plans that they have for the future of Haiti. So based on the response I would get from those candidates, that’s how I would know who I would be able to vote for.

But one thing I’ll say about the Haitian Diaspora is that we need to include the whole Diaspora because without the Haitian Diaspora, then Haiti will not be going anywhere. We all have to work together. Everybody needs to come together, put their egos aside and take care of the country. Whether it’s going to be politicians from Haiti or politicians from outside of Haiti, it doesn’t matter. The problem is bigger than the person, them selves.
