The latest figure was announced by Haiti’s Interior Ministry, which had previously said at least 75,000 people lost their lives in the country’s worst earthquake in two centuries.

Nearly 200,000 people were injured and more than 600,000 left homeless after the 7.3-magnitude earthquake hit the Caribbean nation which shares borders with the Dominican Republic on January 12, 2010 the ministry said.
